Movie of the Month – February
This month’s movie sees the return of a genuine classic, Star Wars, and in eye-popping 3D too!! We can’t wait!

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away……….
Well, not that long ago, 1999 to be exact, the world finally got to see the beginning of the epic Star Wars saga. Now, this February, with the evolution of 3D technology we have the chance to see this awesome movie in an entirely new format and if any film was made for 3D, then this is it!!
The Phantom Menace 3D has got to be THE most anticipated movie of the last fifty years. Ever since George Lucas hinted after The Return of the Jedi that the next films in the series would focus on how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, we have been eagerly awaiting its return.
Star Wars is showing at VUE Cinema in Princes Quay from Thursday 9th February this week so not long to wait but for those of you impatient fans among us… here’s a sneak preview!
The Phantom Menace sets up the events that will unfold over the next five episodes leading to the creation of the Galactic Empire and follows the story of a young slave boy (Anakin Skywalker) who is gifted in the ways of the Force, the mysterious energy that gives Jedi knights their fantastic powers!
Two Jedi knights (Qui Gon-Jin and a young Obi Wan Kenobi) are sent to the planet of Naboo to settle a trade dispute only to uncover a sinister invasion plot to take control of the trade routes. Whilst on the run with the planets Queen Amidala in tow they hide out on the desert planet of Tatooine where a strangely gifted young boy helps them repair their ship and return to the Jedi council to report the current invasion. They return to Naboo and join forces with Jar Jar Binks and a race of amphibious creatures called the Gungans to stop the droid invasion and face off against the deadly dark Jedi Darth Maul in a dazzling lightsaber battle. But just who is “The Phantom Menace”??
This entry to the six part saga has everything a Star Wars episode needs, from wonderful new planets, epic space dog fights and Jedi’s going head to head with lightsabers, it’s set the precedence for what is to come over the next 10 years in the world of film and games.
Lucasfilm has announced they intend to release the remaining five episodes in 3D over the next few years if this proves to be popular and it really is a treat to have this showing in Hull, so why not pop into VUE and see the first one for yourselves!
No doubt this film will be extremely popular so we recommend you book early to avoid disappointment…. check here for details and to book tickets.
